Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training Program
Minnesota State College Southeast
This is a comprehensive 200+ hour program designed to provide systematic and in-depth study for those seeking to deepen their personal yoga practice, as well as to establish a firm foundation for those who will become Yoga Teachers. The program will present the classical tools and techniques of Yoga as taught in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar, including postures, breathing practices, meditation, visualization, and Vedic chanting. It will also provide a background on the history and development of Yoga from its origin to the present, as well as an introduction to two of the main texts of yoga: the Yoga Sūtra-s of Patañjali, and the Bhagavad Gita. A key tenet of this program will be to train teachers to see all people as individuals, to respect their various individual needs and aspirations, and to learn to adapt Yoga in ways that will best serve them. It will present Yoga as a practical methodology of applying its many tools in order to deepen one’s practice, self-exploration, and self-transformation.
This program is designed to exceed the standards of the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. A graduate of this program will be certified as a Yoga Teacher at the 200 level and will be able to register as such with the Yoga Alliance Registry.
Carolyn Hedin will be the Lead Trainer for the Program. Carolyn began her Yoga training in 1997 with Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI) in the Krishnamacarya / Desikachar tradition and earned her 500 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in 2001. Carolyn went on to study for 12 years with K. and TKV Desikachar, first in the USA, Canada, and Europe, and then in India at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai. Starting in 2013 Carolyn studied Vedic chanting privately with Radha Sundararajan and, until Radha’s death in May 2014, was strongly supported by her in carrying on the teachings of Krishnamacharya & Desikachar. Carolyn has been registered as a Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance since 2002, was certified as a Yoga Therapist by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) in 2017, and was certified as a Vedic Chant Teacher by The Society of Yoga Practitioners (TSYP) in the UK in 2019. She continues her studies through TSYP and with her European Sanga of Teachers.
The Training will begin in January 2022 and end in November 2022. There will be 8-weekend sessions that meet Friday through Sunday.
